Week 1-

Introduction of the course.

 

Week 2-

I have learnt that when using Photoshop you can resize the file/canvas size you’re using. Which is a helpful thing when you have the wrong size and you need a new size.

I can apply this in the future by using this method when i make a mistake on choosing the size of my canvas.

My strengths  are that i can now understand the basics of Photoshop, such as how to correctly use tools and how to remove certain stuff. For example erase unnecessary pixels with the eraser tool.

I need to improve on my drawing skills using a mouse.

 

Week 3-

This week i learnt how to animate using Photoshop, it was a really good experience and i really enjoyed it!

I could apply this work in the future because animation is a big part of games and is basically the game so this weeks lessons were really helpful.

My strengths is that i now understand how to do a basic animation with Photoshop.

To improve my work i need to try and make bigger stuff and more detailed works to experience more, so i can get as much of experience of the future.

 

Week 4-

During this week i have learnt how to make a long moving animation simply using Photoshop, i done it by applying the skills i learnt on week 3, it was really helpful because i was prepared to do the animation and didn’t have to go and learn it all over again.

Using the animation skills i improved this week i will be able to apply this again next time i use animations or work with animation using Photoshop. This will be really useful because once again i will know what to do without being lost.

This weeks strengths are that i could do a basic moving animation without really seeking for help, which was a bit surprising for me.

However to improve my work i need to carry on have a practice with it so i can get well comfortable with Photoshop.

 

Week 5-

In the final week of the term, i was having a go at Game Maker, it was really hard at the start, but i learnt the basics of the software which allowed me to create some kinds of characters/ moving animations.

I will need the skills i used on Game Maker in the future because Game Maker is one of the best software’s to learn how to make simple games.

I haven’t really got a strength because i just started using it, but i will try to improve my skills so next time i use it i can name a strength i have learnt.

I will need to improve loads of things because i just began to use the software, and not anything looks good and professional so i still have loads of work to do. I will practice the key skills and find one good strength.

 

Week 6-

During this week we’ve looked at sound mostly, and how sound was made in films, for example the sound of wind, instead of going somewhere where is windy, you could make a wind sound at your place, simply using objects and a microphone to make a look like sound. We were given a task to find and repeat the sound effects of the game called ‘Hyper Light Drifter’, my job was to find a sound of foot steps, so i did was use my fingers and the back of my phone to repeat the sound of footsteps, this was a team work task and overall everything

worked out well and better than expected.

We had a to do a research about the game we was going to make, plan it and etc. We were working on our teams. Making simple sketches of our characters then transferring them to Photoshop.

We also looked at Game Maker, i learned so many new features and tricks, i could now make a really basic game using Game Maker.

I will however need to improve my skills so i don’t forget them in the future, so i need to get fully confident with Game Maker.

 

Week 7-

Week 7 we focused on Game Maker mainly, we learned many new features once again and we once again got together with our teams and worked on the project (our game), our game theme was ancient Egypt, George Washington and era. So we done a mood board related on our game theme, and from there we had a clear view of what we wanted to achieve and make.

Also we came back to sound and had to repeat our sound effects of the homework ‘Hyper Light Drifter’, because the sound effects were lost, we didn’t have the objects required to make the same sounds but we improvised and still achieved the same sound effects as last time.

So there was a good team work and communication.

Week 8-

In this week, we finally began to design our game, the rooms, characters…

I made sketches on Photoshop of our game main character and a room sketch on a A3 paper of what the room would like, my room was mean’t to be a prison. So i designed a prison and next week i will start designing the prison on Photoshop.

Also we had our final lessons on Game Maker where we learned new features that could help us improve our game, overall i would say Game Maker is the hardest topic for me, i find it really hard to use and understand because i missed some lessons which put me behind everyone, but i’m slowly catching up.

Next week i will focus on our game more, design document and my room/character.

 

Week 9/10/11-
